Over 10,000 students currently attend one of the various high school programs in Celje, making it truly the city of the youth – and talented youth! Each year, an enviable number of students attain superior results at competitions in Slovenia and abroad. Celje is particularly proud of its traditional program The Young for Celje which involves conducting high-quality research, often related to the city's economy and business.

During the festivities dedicated to the Municipal Holliday on 11 April young people from Celje's kindergartens, primary and secondary schools and youth institutions create the biggest gallery in the city. Using their creativity and imagination they paint the jumbo panels which decorate the city and greet visitors of Celje.

The creative drive of the young finds shelter in the Celje Youth Center which offers a range of leisure time programs. The young in Celje also love to dance (dance activity has a notable tradition in Celje) and sing (Celje is known for its choirs and choir competitions).

The Youth Gallery of Visual Arts is another exceptional feature.
Celje also offers several vocational and university graduate programs which currently include over 4 thousand students. The development of the international university will further promote the role of the student life in the City of the Counts.



Trivia: Celje's high school students take part each year in the Slovenian and international project of simultaneous square dance in the streets of several cities; the project has already made the Guinness Book of World Records.
