CELJE, GALLERY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE'S ART WORKS
100 prints for history of Celje

History of Celje would have only been a white blur in memory of current habitants of planet Earth if there had not been for the prehistoric peoples with highly developed culture and technology for those times. Members of these same peoples left behind their written records, drawings, pictures and architecture for us, which we use as basis for making inferences regarding the evolution of humanity. As it is true for most of aged architectures which we can now only admire by means of these records and drawings, our descendants will also be able to admire and get to know the current architecture with a bit of assistance of current records and reports.

Messages of this sort for our descendants are taking shape in Celje ever since 2001. Our Institution for Creative Development of Young People organizes graphic workshops for academic authors from different countries each year. These authors arrive to Celje and in contact with the town of Celje they produce graphic prints on theme "Architecture of Celje and of Old Castle of Celje". It is an authorial project of Mihailo Lišanin and during 2001 and 2007 there have been 6 different international graphics workshops organized. There were 20 different authors from six countries who participated in the workshops so far and they produced 100 graphic prints on abovementioned theme.

From 29th of January to 15th of March, 2008 the whole collection of these 100 graphic prints was put on display for the first time in Zavod za zdravstveno varstvo Celje. In this manner the prints were put on display for the broader audience of Celje and they became a bridge between creators and citizens of Celje.

The exhibition was denoted by numerous visitors as graceful contribution to preserving the memory of current architecture of Celje. There were also two of the authors present at the opening: Ivana Todić from Celje and Barbara Jurkovšek from Dol pri Ljubljana. A special recognition to the exhibition was made by the arrival of the honorary citizen of Celje, academic painter Darinka Lorenčak to the exhibition. The exhibition was opened by director of ZZV Celje, prim. doc. dr. Ivan Eržen, dr. med. Songwriter Aleš Romih contributed to better mood of all the present with his performance.
