As foreseen, we opened the exhibition of the awarded artworks and granted 150 awards to the best artists up to 20 years of age who were awarded on the 13th International Competition of the World of Art magazine and the Gallery of Young People’s Art Works Celje on 23rd of May, 2008. The ceremony took place in Velika dvorana Celjskega doma and in the Gallery of Young People’s Art Works Celje.
The awarded artworks on theme "Who am I? Who are My People?" have been chosen among over 10.000 participating artworks from 40 different countries from all the continents and have been reviewed by the professional jury with members from 3 countries. There were many awardees who came to Celje to the ceremony from very distant countries, such as Iran, Russia, Belarus, Mexico, Turkey and also from near ones: Montenegro, Croatia, Romania, Serbia ... The importance of this international competition (led by Mihailo Lišanin , the founder of the competition and the first children’s gallery in Slovenia) for young people for the promotion of Slovenia in the world was confirmed by the president of Slovenia, Dr. Danilo Türk who accepted honorary sponsorship over the ceremony and sent the greetings’ letter to all the awardees. Children from III. Osnovna šola Celje, Folklorna skupina Celje and Plesni forum Celje participated in the cultural program. The exhibition was solemnly opened by the mayor of Municipality of Celje, Mr. Bojan Šrot. Among the guests there were several representatives of foreign embassies.
