Serbian painting on paper in Celje On Saturday, august the 16th 2008 The Gallery of Young People's Art Works opened an exhibition of academic and other Serbian painters born in Serbia who live now in Serbia or Slovenia. The exhibition was opened in the framework of "Days of Serbian culture in Styrian provinces in Slovenia and Austria" in organization of International cultural society Styrian community lead by Rade Bakračević from Radenci. In cultural programme preformed members of Serbian cultural society from Maribor who sing under the name of "Brankice". Presented Serbian paintings are from the private collection of Mihailo Lišanin, editor of magazine The World of Art and the leader of The Gallery of Young People's art Works. The exhibition shows the development of Serbian painting in last decades of 20th century, especially art work on paper as a surface. One of the reasons why so many Serbian painters in last two decades of 20th century expressed themselves on paper (graphics, drawings, aquarelles, tempera, acrylic) was lack of materials and a financial collapse close before and after collapse of Yugoslavia. This doesn't mean that their expression isn't powerful enough but merely that they used cheaper surface. Presentation of these 18 painters is also the first presentation of Serbian painting in such a large scale in Slovenia after the collapse of Yugoslavia. It's a cross section trough Serbian artistic creativeness in this period from naïve thru abstraction. On the exhibition are presented academic painters and sculptors: Emil Sfera, Pančevo, Novak Džamić, Župa, Mira Kojić, Kikinda, Željko Vučković, G. Milanovac, Dragan Gucunski, Novi Sad, Miloje Mitrović, Valjevo, Milan Todić, Šabac, Rista Antunović, Beograd, Dragan Ristić, Beograd, Petar Šadi, Miroslav Jovančić, Sava Halugin, Edita Kadirić vsi Subotica in slikarji Zoran Jošić, Beograd, Dr. Stanislav Stojanović, Leskovac, Đerđ Boroš, Subotica, Vladimir Kepić, Jagodina in Lidija Jelić, Velika Plana. If we had bigger display room we could present as twice as much Serbian painters, which are part of private collection of more than several hundreds of art works from painters from all continents. Along this collection Institution for Creative Development of Young People have also 130 graphics from 25 academic and other authors from 7 countries on the subject of "Architecture of Celje" and 115.000 art works from authors up to the age of 20 from 80 countries from all continents.
