On Friday, May 15th 2009, Institution for Creative Development of Young People and The Gallery of Young People’s Art Works organized a ceremony on which they gave out diplomas and opened an exhibition of awarded artworks of XIV. International competition of magazine The World of Art. 8.200 authors up to the age of 20 from 42 countries and from all continents participated in competition. The topic of competition was “Who am I? Who my people are?”. International expert jury awarded 3 artworks in each group with first place and 150 best artworks (50 in each age group; up to 10 years, from 11-15 years and from 16-20 years). Awardees and representatives from distant countries like India, Turkey, Hong Kong, Indonesia arrived in Celje, as also from imminent countries like Serbia, Slovakia, Croatia, Romania… For second year in succession the honourable patron of exhibition opening was the president of Republic of Slovenia, dr. Danilo Türk. Awardees, guests and all present were welcomed, in the name of municipality Celje, by Bojan Šrot, mayor of Celje and exhibition was opened by doyen of art teaching methodology in the world, dr. Bogomil Karlavaris from Rjeka, Croatia. Good atmosphere was provided by pupils from III. Elementary School from Celje with Irish dances and Plesni Forum Celje under choreography from Goga Stefanović Erjavec with their cultural programme. On Monday dr. Danilo Türk together with his wife Barbara Miklič Türk had a reception for awardee from India, Lakshmi Shree and afterwards she had a reception, together with the leader of the competition Mihailo Lišanin, at ambassador of India in Ljubljana, dr. Villur S. Seshadri with his wife Vidya Seshadri.
