8th International graphic arts workshop on a theme “Architecture of city Celje”

The history of mankind would today be all but a faint impression in the memory of the current inhabitants of our planet, if there were not, from prehistoric ages onwards, peoples with for those times highly evolved culture and technology. These peoples left us their texts, paintings, drawings, pictures and architecture based on which we can draw conclusions about human development.
As most of old architecture which is today being admired only with the help of those texts and drawings, our descendants will admire and observe our current architecture with the help of present-day texts and information.
Such messages that will be passed to our descendants are being created in Celje from the year 2001 onward. The Institution for creative development of young people with cooperation with the city of Celje is annually hosting academic authors from various countries which create graphic artworks on a theme “Architecture of city Celje” and “Old castle Celje”. The project hosted eight international workshops in which 29 authors from Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Hungary and Belarus participated. They created 152 graphic artworks on the abovementioned theme. Katarina of Celje, mighty Friderik, Old castle Celje, st. Joseph and st. Daniel church, Narodni dom, Celjski dom, old post office and the street architecture are represented in the graphic artworks.
From the 20th -28th of August 2009, professors from the Art academy in Minsk, Belarus and an academic artist from Celje, Ivana Todić Andrić were creating the graphic artworks. Pavel Tatarnikau, a senior university teacher on the chair for graphic arts and the receiver of the “Golden apple” award in Bratislava 2001, one of the greatest Belarus illustrators, and the man of whom the books he illustrated are translated in England, Italy, Germany, Croatia, South Korea…. and Tamara Šelest, Igor Gardziyonak and Vladimir Davgjala, which have already held successful exhibitions and were awarded various prizes in Belarus, Austria, Greece, Germany, Turkey, France, Spain, Yugoslavia, Slovakia, Poland, Taiwan and Japan. Their first encounter with Celje and their artistic impressions that emerged on the occasion are visualized in graphic artworks that will be an important testimony to our descendants regarding the appearance of our city.
