“Distances” of Darja Štefančič
On Friday, the 16th of October, we opened the autumn exhibition season with the opening ceremony of the artist from Rakek Darja Štefančič’s exhibition. With the exhibition called “Distances”, Darja Štefančič presents her dreams, restlessness and limitations that mature for a long time before seeing the light of day on paintings that glow in red, blue, green, yellow and intermediate shades. There is no black color, only the dark wooden frames point out the limitations of the luxury of life. Igor Leonardi, the seeker of musical secrets performed with exotic musical instruments from Africa and Arabia and Tatjana Pregl Kobe, an art critic from Ljubljana, expressed these thoughts (among other) on the artistic creativity of Darja Štefančič. “The artist Darja Štefančič presents her self with a wide range of motives from her existing art opus, through which the continuity of her search for the appropriate artistic expression is clearly shown. Her images disclose a perceptible and thoughtful observation of the world and the indestructible vividness of the spirit at the same time, as the artist is interlacing both narrative and lyrical strings in her creations in a very interesting way. In her painting the search for the essence of being starts early in the process of creativity, which she perceives as purification and sacrifice of the sediments of her being and at the same time as the reconstruction and the possibility of opening new beginnings. The artist’s thought has been enriched through the decades by many life cognitions, searching for the truth and illusion, dreams and fantasy, painful experiences and love and thus creating messages, on over thirty canvases, that are still current for her today.” After this exhibition, on the 18th of November, the colorful paintings and joy of children will fill our gallery with the exhibition of the Šmarje pri Jelšah kindergarten and the gallery will once more serve its original purpose, the artistic creativity of children.
