At the 2nd UNESCO World conference on arts education in Seoul, Republic of Korea, Slovenia was represented by an international exhibition of artworks, created by authors up to 20 years of age from 50 countries on a theme “Ethnological dresses and folklore dances of my people” from the archive of the Gallery of young people’s art works.
The artistic creativity of young people was represented at the conference by only three exhibitions. Alongside the Slovene exhibition there were also exhibitions from the German institution littleART and from the host institution Let’s Art.
The credit for being able to see the Slovene flag alongside all the other in front of the COEX congress centre in Seoul goes to Mihailo Lišanin, who also received an award for his work from the UNESCO world organization at the closing ceremony. In memory of this grand event, on behalf of Celje and Slovenia, Mihailo Lišanin gave the representative of UNESCO the Shield of Celje, which will now be displayed in the UNESO headquarters’ showcase alongside other important gifts.
The exhibition was viewed by a large number of the 2000 participants of the conference from all continents. Many photographed individual artworks, especially those from their own countries and there is already a positive feedback present in a form of desire to establish cooperation with the Gallery of young people’s art works.
Another challenge awaits Mihailo Lišanin this month as he is opening an exhibition of Afghan and Iranian children’s artworks at the Slovene Embassy in Teheran on the 21st of June  2010. The exhibition of artworks, created by the children at art workshops , organized by the gallery from Celje, set up by the Slovene Embassy in Teheran and supported by the  Slovene Foreign Ministry,  will commemorate the Slovene national holiday.
The diplomatic assembly from all countries that have diplomatic representatives in Teheran are invited to attend the opening ceremony and the celebration of Slovene Statehood Day.
