Exhibition of Afghan children's artworks At the Embassy of Republic of Slovenia in Teheran, Iran, an exhibition of artworks created by Afghan refugee children in Teheran and Afghan children from Heart in Afghanistan was opened on the 21st of June 2010, celebrating the Slovene Statehood day. The artworks were created at open art workshops, organized by the chargee d’affaires at the Slovene Embassy in Teheran, Ms. Kristina Radej and with the help of international organizations operating in Iran and Afghanistan: Office of the UN High Commisssioner for Refugees (UNCHR), Iran, Afghanistan, Office of the United Ntions Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), Iran, Afghanistan, Society for Protection of Working and Street Children (SPWSC), Iran, Association for Protection of Child Labourers (APCL), Iran, Women’s Activities & Social Services Association (WASSA), Afghanistan, Turkman Youth Society (TYS), Afghanistan, Orphanages for boys and girls in Heart, Afghanistan, Jabereil Girl’s School, Afghanistan and Pamchal Art Gallery, Afghanistan. The created artworks were then sent to the Institution for Creative Development of Young People in Celje, where we introduced one exhibition of these artworks in our gallery on the 7th of May 2010. At the exhibition opening in Teheran, many of foreign diplomatic representatives were present alongside with the representatives of the abovementioned international organizations. The exhibition was opened by Ms, Kristina Radej. We used this occasion also to present the Iranian children that participated at our 15th International competition on the theme: “Ethnological dresses and folklore dances of my people” with their deserved awards for their artworks. Some award winners travelled as far as 300 kilometres. This was a day that brought together young artists from Afghanistan and Iran, diplomats, international organizations and parents of all the involved children. The entire project was carried out with the financial support of the Government of Republic of Slovenia and the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Slovenia as an official project of the Institution for Creative Development of Young People and the Gallery of Young People’s Artworks Celje under the leadership of Mihailo Lišanin.
