On Monday, the 30th of May 2011 at the Artist Gallery in Trabzon, a city on the Black Sea coastline in Turkey with population of 400.000 people, we opened the exhibition and carried out the award ceremony for award winners outside Europe of our 16th International competition of young people carried out by the Gallery of young people’s art works Celje on the theme “Ethnological dresses and folklore dances of my people.
In spite of the pre-election fever in this country and other problems, the ceremony hosted a number of award winners, parents, visitors and important guests, including local directors of Education, Tourism and Culture, the director of Art University, deputy mayor of Trabzon, minister counsellor of the Indonesian Embassy and China.
The arrival of the award winner from Azerbaijan village Lahij with 1500 years of history was the proof to the reach of the competition in Celje and its importance. During the ceremony, clips of previous exhibitions of Mihailo Lišanin around the world were projected.
This event is the first one of its kind in the history of International competitions for young people as the award ceremony was carried out at two countries and two continents.
Furthermore, the premiere presentation of awarded artworks and award winners from Iran, Serbia and Slovenia was set up in the beginning of April 2011 in Hong Kong.
The ceremony itself and talks between directors of Education, Culture and Tourism of this city and Mihailo Lišanin, the leader and founder of the International competition in Celje showed there is a lot of interest and opportunities of developing mutual projects in view of the programme of Turkey becoming a part of EU.
A special surprise was prepared as the award winner of International competition Celje 2004, who attended the ceremony in Celje that year, accompanied by her parents and Ambassador of Turkey at the Old Castle ceremony, came to meet Mihailo Lišanin in Trabzon.
Folklore groups from Trabzon performed in the cultural programme and the official translator to Slovene was Simon Gmajner from Celje.
Even after his return to Celje, there is no rest for Mihailo Lišanin as he is opening a new exhibition at the Koprivnica City Holliday in Croatia on the 13th of June, a couple of days later in Novi Sad and at the end of June in Paris, France.
