The Gallery of Young People’s Art Works & World of Art's 17th International competition for authors up to 20 years of age on the theme: Ethnological Dresses and Folklore of my People” in concluded. More than 8000 artworks from 42 countries arrived at the gallery which again puts this competition among the largest 10 art competition in the world. The artworks were examined by an expert jury: mag. Svetlana Vešić Ralević, academic graphic artist, Belgrade, Emil Sfera, academic artist, Pančevo, both from Serbia and art historian Tanja Čajevec from Celje and awarded participants with awards for best art solution and awards for second place in their age groups. As many excellent artworks arrived this year, the jury reached a decision of awarding more participants than in the previous years thus giving out 50 awards for best art solution and 300 second place awards in all age groups combined. The expert jury and Mihailo Lišanin, the competition founder, were thrilled to have received many artworks from distant countries and countries from which it is difficult to obtain any artworks for the competition or institutions to cooperate with due to wars and other circumstances. Celje and Slovenia can be proud to have young participants as far as Afghanistan, Sudan, Mexico, Philippines, Malaysia, Rep. of Korea, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India, China, Argentina, Costa Rica, Nigeria, Tibet, Japan and other countries from all continents. The greatness of this competition is not measured only in this year’s number of participants but also in the number of all participants in these 17 years which amounts to more than 120.000 young people from 102 countries.
