Likovni salon Gallery Celje is a place for contemporary art. The Likovni salon Gallery presents current art production, which depicts the spirit of the times, reaches across formal and aesthetic aspects and is influenced by the developement of digital and virtual technologies, as well as the radical changes in the concept of human, society and life. Gallery of Contemporary art Celje houses representative exhibitions and overviews of work of contemporary authors and recent history from Slovenia and abroad. It aims for a flexible and truly current programme network, connecting with the broader local and international space, thereby creating conditions for suggestive visual addresses to the public. Račka - Erotic Gallery is the first erotic art gallery in Slovenia, located in a former Peep-Show, presenting art that challenges gender divisions, morality and new artistic as well as social trends. Its exhibitions, performances and other events provoke the people's (im)morality and interpretes various forms of erotica, sexual behavior and sexual hybrid identities. All three galleries are operating within Zavod za kulturne prireditve in turizem Celeia Celje. The regional Museum is located in the picturesque part of Celje by the Savinja River and on its premises it has been collecting, housing and displaying the cultural heritage of Celje and its wider area since 1882. The exhibited permanent collections offer the unique opportunity to experience the "walk through time", from prehistoric times to WWI. The visit starts at the archaeological collection, which acquaints visitors with a rich palette of exhibits from the Early Stone Age to late Roman times. The life of prehistoric times is displayed with findings from settlements and burial grounds. Two archaeological findings are accentuated: Potočka zijalka Cave and Rifnik. With numerous exhibits from everyday life one of the peaks in the history of Celje is presented, the period of Roman Celeia in the first centuries A.D. For all connoisseurs of antiquity there is a rich Roman lapidarium on display in the garden and cellar of the museum. In accordance with the rules and aims of the museum field, the museum looks after the movable cultural heritage of Celje and the Celje region and presents it to the broadest possible audience. The substance of its area of work involves the interweaving of recent national and regional history and other museum disciplines with contemporary life and topical issues. This is the basis on which the collecting policy and the museum's collections, as well as other offers and activities of the museum are designed; they are meant to popularise the museum. Particular attention with additional educational programmes and activities is devoted to young visitors to the museum. |
